A dicembre del 2019 sono comparse nel Porto di Voltri (Ge) un podo di quattro orche più un cucciolo. La presenza di questi animali in Mediterraneo è un fatto raro e in ogni caso non è mai accaduto che si spingessero all’interno di un porto, nuotando in un fazzoletto di mare largo più o meno cento metri. Attraverso le immagini scattate da Samuele Wurtz e grazie all’interazione con un centro di ricerca islandese è arrivata la conferma che pod è lo stesso avvistato in Nord Europa nel 2017. Intanto, dopo 18 giorni di permanenza le orche hanno ripreso il largo e sono state avvistate lungo le coste libiche
